The project is moving towards the next phase
At the January meeting in Zürich, major steps were taken in the current work phase and plans for the next were determined. The 4F working group met in its entirety for the fifth time and it can be stated that the work on the maturity matrix is coming to an end. The matrix has around 160 activities and a progressive assessment scale that a federation, regardless of organizational or sporting status, can use to make an overall assessment of its activities. The idea is that the results are used to prioritize and balance the development work of each federation so that a long-term and ongoing development can be planned and implemented.
"The work has been very interesting from day one and will be beneficial not only in project-related matters, but also because it increases contacts between people involved in floorball and hard-working national federations. I hear gratifying comments about the positive that Swedish Floorball has advanced its positions further and strengthened our already serious commitment when it comes to the development of international floorball, comments the Swedis Floorball representative, Mr. Anders Johnsson.
As soon as the maturity matrix will be determined, the next phase will start and it'll be sent to the participating nations for individual work. The result of self-assessment is important not only for each individual federation, but also for floorball as whole to identify areas where the sport may need to change and develop in a broad, international perspective. The tool may even have a wider scale of use.
"I actually think that also other sports federations might benefit from our project's outcome. Sport is sport no matter where in the world you go and the same challenges and same problems, as well as many same outcomes exists all over the globe," says Mr. Veli Halonen, the IFF Operations Manager, who represents the International Floorball Federation in the project.
